One World is an experiential learning program that seeks to promote global understanding and co-operation by providing participants with cross-cultural and cross-class learning opportunities.

Through immersion living participants gain knowledge of their hosts and the local culture, economy and political situation. Participants become acutely aware of the challenges their hosts face as well as locally-developed solutions. The intention of this experience of being in direct relationship with the majority world economic poor, combined with prayerful reflection and sharing the experience in the group, is to change one's world-view -- one's understanding of one’s own culture, of oneself, of one's place in the world. This new understanding of oneself as global citizen motivates action towards creating a more just and inclusive global community.

Although participants will be involved in various development projects, the primary objective is to learn - not to teach or to do. It is a way of sharing our lives with our hosts and showing appreciation for their hospitality. Making a difference in the lives of our hosts is less important than allowing them to make a difference in ours.

Spiritual reflection is an important component of the program. The participation and contribution of people of all faiths is both welcomed and encouraged.
