Who Is Disabled?

If you fail to see
The person
But only the disability
Then who is blind?

If you cannot hear
Your brother's
Cry for justice
Who is deaf?

If you do not communicate
With your sister
But separate her from you
Who is disabled?

If your heart or mind
Does not reach
Out to your neighbor
Who has the mental handicap?

If you do not stand
Up for the rights
Of all persons
Who is crippled?

Your attitude toward
Persons with disability
May be our biggest
Handicap and yours too.

I am disabled - or so the statistics like to label me - I have several - I call them "inconveniences" but I have not let them impede my life too much. I have to take them into consideration in my everyday living but I can handle that - I find people sometimes find it very difficult to remember that and be there when I need abit of extra help. I ask, please do not fuss around us - but be there for us.
"Thank you". Love you Chelsxoxox
You would make a "fantastic" social worker or anything in that field.
